MERCY CARE

Chap accredited

The surveying agency, Community Heath Accreditation Program (CHAP) accreditation means that the organization being surveyed meets higher standards of care and operation than regulations (state/federal) require. The entire agency is evaluated based on these higher standards, including all departments, from finance to the volunteer program, from the top of the hierarchy (the board of directors) to the direct patient care level. No stone is left unturned, and the survey week is usually one of great stress and anticipation. Mercy Care feels it is well worth the effort and cost to the organization because of what it means to the people we serve. What this means to our communities is that they can feel confident that Mercy Care is providing the VERY best service and the HIGHEST quality of care in the industry. Hospice care is a balanced mixture of highly competent, expert clinical staff, and highly compassionate clinical staff. Accreditation evaluates this balance as well.
Mercy Care also received a very uncommon and highly regarded commendation for our superior Mercy HONORS program for veterans and their families. The surveyor actually had tears in her eyes when she shared this with us during her exit interview on the last day. She said that in all her years of doing these surveys, she has only given out two commendations, and Mercy Care is the second program ever to recieve this commendation.
