From the Executive Director Fall 2009

Executive Director, Sara-Jo Faucher Those of you who are familiar with Mercy likely have noticed that we have made a few changes recently, not the least of which is our name change. We have moved to our official non-profit name, Mercy Care, because it more accurately captures the array of services that Mercy Care offers. You’ve probably noticed that we have updated our logo slightly to reflect this as well.

Mercy’s mission continues to be the provision of the highest quality of care for those with life-limiting illnesses, as well as support for their caregivers, families, and fellow community members. We are committed to the development of programs and services needed within our shared communities that are in keeping with our mission. These programs and services include:

  • Hospice Care
  • Palliative Care Partners
  • Mercy HONORS—a comprehensive Veterans Program
  • Senior Wellness to include support of S.A.G.E.S (Senior Advocates Growing Elder Services)
  • Parish Nurse Program
  • Community grief counseling for adults (group and individual)
  • Community grief counseling for children and teens in the school as a group or individually
  • Camp Happy Hearts, a bi-annual children’s day camp to foster support and teach children and adolescents to cope with their grief.
  • Treasures of the Heart, a unique boutique resale store! The proceeds of which help to provide services to those in need within our shared community.
  • and coming soon, our new Community Library specializing in end-of-life issues and grief and loss support.

We have had the privilege of serving Horry, Marion, and Georgetown counties for almost three decades and we will continue to add programs and services which are consistent with our mission as our community continues to flourish and change. Our passion is, and has always been, to continue to give back to the communities that so generously support us. Our vision is to be your first choice as the recognized leader in end-of-life care and support and your hometown hospice!
