A Health Care Power of Attorney allows you to name a person you trust as your agent to make decisions for you if you are unable to do so. You also state in this document the medical treatments that you may or may not want. A Living Will only tells your medical caregivers what treatments you do or do not want if you become terminally ill or permanently unconscious. It is a more limited document that a Health Care Power of Attorney. South Carolina allows you to express your wishes in these documents as well as in the Five Wishes document.
