Our Executive Administrative Team is composed of accomplished professionals who each bring concepts, knowledge, and years of expertise together collectively to provide our patients and their families with unquestionably the best care possible! All of our staff has a firm belief in our mission to comfort suffering persons whose illness has progressed beyond a cure and to continue to serve the bereavement needs of family members, including children and teens, after their loved one has passed.
J. Timothy Browne, Mercy Care Board PresidentMr. Browne has been serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Loris Healthcare System for more than 10 years. Originally from Hartsville, Mr. Browne graduated from the University of South Carolina. He has served as CEO and held other administrative roles for 15 years for a for-profit hospital company prior to joining Loris Healthcare System in 1998. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, a national professional society for healthcare leaders.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Browne has also served on boards for the Loris Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Horry County, and presently serves on the board of directors of the local branch of BB&T. He was appointed by former Governor Jim Hodges to serve on the Patients’ Compensation Fund from 1999-2006. In addition, he serves on the board of the South Carolina Hospital Association. He is an active member of Loris First Baptist Church. He and his wife, Nancy, reside in Loris with their children Katelyn and Austin.
Sara Jo Faucher, Executive Director and CEOSara-Jo Faucher, RN, MSN, CHPN, has been a nurse for 30 years—26 of which have been devoted to health care administration in various venues. She was born in CT and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Salve Regina College in Newport, R.I. In 1979 she joined the Army Nurse Corps after graduation. She spent three years on active duty at the Presidio, SF and three years active reserves before resigning her commission at the rank of Captain to give birth to her son. She completed her Master’s Degree as a Geriatric Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of California at San Francisco in 1992.
Her clinical/administration experience includes acute care, home care, long-term care, senior day care, and has dedicated the last twelve years in hospice and home care executive administration. Although most of her professional career has been in northern CA, she moved her family to FL in 2000 to help care for her elderly parents who are now deceased. She is the proud mother of a son and daughter, both of whom are attending colleges full-time in FL. She is enjoying her leadership role at Mercy Care, as well as her new life as an Horry County resident. She is convinced that southern hospitality is “alive and well”.

Dr. Charles Sasser, Medical DirectorDr. Charles Sasser has been practicing Internal Medicine for more than 30 years and this field of expertise continues to bring him great personal satisfaction. Dr. Sasser was recognized for his lifetime achievement at the 33rd Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care conference in Myrtle Beach on Sunday, May 3, 2009. Dr. Sasser has served as chief of staff and chief of medicine for Conway Medical Center, board president of Mercy Hospice and Palliative Care, president of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and secretary of the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He currently has his own practice in both Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine, while also serving as medical director for Mercy.
As Medical Director, Dr. Sasser oversees the interdisciplinary team process, ensuring every patient receives appropriate medical treatment, as well as the desired complement of clinical, psychosocial, volunteer, and spiritual supports. The End of Life Care Leadership Award is presented to individuals, end of life coalitions, projects or agencies that have made great contributions to high-quality end of life care.
Dr. Beth Cardosi,Palliative Care Partners Medical Director
Dr. Beth Cardosi joined the staff as an Assistant Hospice Medical Director. Before coming to Mercy Care, she had her own practice, Indigo Beach Medical. Dr. Beth Cardosi graduated from the Texas College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 and has been in the profession for 11 years. In 2009, she accepted the position of Palliative Care Partners Medical Director. Patients from her practice have described her as “absolutely wonderful and one of the best and most caring doctors that I have ever met” and “professional, caring, listens, attentive, thorough! Excellent bedside manner!” We are ecstatic to have Dr. Cardosi on our team!
