Our Executive Administrative Team is composed of accomplished professionals who each bring concepts, knowledge, and years of expertise together collectively to provide our patients and their families with unquestionably the best care possible! All of our staff has a firm belief in our mission to comfort suffering persons whose illness has progressed beyond a cure and to continue to serve the bereavement needs of family members, including children and teens, after their loved one has passed.

Dr. Charles Sasser, Medical Director
Dr. Charles Sasser has been practicing Internal Medicine for more than 30 years and this field of expertise continues to bring him great personal satisfaction. His special interests are in hospice and palliative medicine, and the healing potential of stories. He has been witness to, cared for, and presided over, the physical decline and death of family, friends and others in the community who choose him as their physician. Dr. Sasser states that “attending the suffering of remarkable people at the end of life’s journey when the banalities and facades are swept away, and meaning and value are discovered anew, claims my attention in a powerful way.”
Dr. Beth Cardosi, Assistant Medical Director
Dr. Beth Cardosi recently joined the staff as an Assistant Medical Director. Before coming to Mercy Hospice, she had her own practice, Indigo Beach Medical. Dr. Beth Cardosi graduated from the Texas College Of Osteopathic Medicine in 1996 and has been in the profession for 11 years. Patients from her practice have described her as “absolutely wonderful and one of the best and most caring doctors that I have ever met” and “professional, caring, listens, attentive, thorough! Excellent bedside manner!” We are ecstatic to have Dr. Cardosi join our team!
Johnnie Garmon, Manager of Administration Johnnie joined Mercy Hospice & Palliative Care as a business professional bringing with him over 13 years of business acumen experience. He has worked with both private and public sectors enabling businesses to expand as well as consulting with government agencies to enhance their services to the public. Johnnie has earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Organizational Development from Mount Olive College as well as an MBA from Webster University. Johnnie has chaired many civic and community committees as well as published many business articles in newspapers and trade journals. Serving as the Administration and Program Manager, Johnnie is responsible for all administration aspects of Mercy Hospice that span from human resources to regulatory compliance and quality.

Tom Badurski, Counseling Coordinator
Tom has been a resident of Myrtle Beach for over 30 years and graduated from Myrtle Beach High School. He has lived and traveled extensively throughout the US and Europe as a child as his father was in the USAF. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina in psychology and a Masters Degree from the Citadel in Clinical Counseling. His work experience is varied and includes stints working in advertising and marketing, real estate sales and as the lead coordinator of clinical services with Alliance Health Care for 12 years. He also served as an Associate Professor of Psychology teaching evening classes part time at Horry Georgetown Technical College.
