Mercy Care

pallitive care

Those who are suffering from a long-term or chronic illness still need help, even if they are not ready for hospice care. When you are in the midst of a chronic illness, you need answers, relief, expertise, and support. Palliative Care Partners is another Mercy Care program comprised of a team of caring professionals whose expertise is in the special field of pain and symptom control. Although “Hospice” and “Palliative Care” are often confused as being the same service, nothing could be further from the truth. Medicare recognizes Palliative Care as a specialty that is different from Hospice Care, and is appropriate for any patient with a 24 month or less life expectancy prognosis.
The goal of Palliative Care is to help ease the patient’s pain and the distressing symptoms that may arise from any current curative treatments. The Palliative Care team works with a patient’s primary healthcare provider to determine the best medical plan of care, while managing the pain and other symptoms that can nag at the quality of your life, such as pain, trouble sleeping, nausea, vomiting, constipation, and loss of appetite. Our team can also provide psychological, emotional, and spiritual support for the patient, caregiver, and family.
