Volunteers

are the heart of our organization.

Every Mercy patient has a team of professionals helping to heal their heart, comfort their body and soothe their spirit. A critical part of that team is a trained volunteer who is available to be with the patient and family and lend a hand with meals, provide company, listen or just sit quietly.

In addition to volunteers who work directly with patients, we rely on volunteers to assist with our Pet Peace of Mind program. Pet Peace of Mind provides services such as transportation to veterinary appointments, spaying & neutering, exercise, pet food & cat litter, etc., to our patient's pets.  The program will also assist in locating a "fur-ever" home if the caregiver is unable to keep the pet after the patient's death. We know that the unconditional love pets provide to their owners is priceless medicine for both patients and famlies living with a terminal illness.

Other volunteer opportunities include:

Mercy HONORS Volunteers: Mercy HONORS is our way of saying "thank you" to our veterans through a special pinning ceremony, in a patient's home and also within the community.  To volunteer, you must be a veteran from any branch of the service.

Office Volunteers: Volunteers who work in our Mercy Care office and do everything from compiling mass mailings to filing and making phone calls.

Bereavement Volunteers: Volunteers in the bereavement department work with the deceased patient's families by either contacting them throught phone calls, mailings or home visits.

Special Event(s)/Outreach Volunteers: Mercy Care provides numerous programs free of charge to those in our immediate care as well as children, teens and adults in our community.  As a non-profit organization, we rely on special fundraising events and volunteers to support our programs.  We attend many community events and are always in need of volunteers to help.
