Co-Chairs Named for Mercy Care’s 2013 Mischief Night Masquerade Ball

Posted By: | February 14, 2013

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Mercy Care's signature gala event, the Mischief Night Masquerade Ball, is returning this year after a year's hiatus. Mercy is proud to announce that Doris and Woody Ford will co-chair this year's Mischief Night Masquerade Ball to take place at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes on Friday, October 25, 2013.

Doris and Woody served on the Masquerade Ball committee in 2011, which was a record-breaking year for the sellout event – raising over $70,000 to help patients and families in need. Funds were used to provide vital hospice services for uninsured patients, counsel grieving children, and assist families struggling to pay for necessities like electricity and heat.

Doris and Woody moved to the area 19 years ago and are very active in the community. Doris is an EMG Technician at Grand Strand Spine and Neuro Center and is a member of American Association of Electrodiagnostic Technologists (AAET). Woody is Director of Operations at BlueCross BlueShield of SC. He serves on several Boards, including United Way of Horry County, and is a member of the Heart Ball Committee for the American Heart Association.

"We are so excited to chair this committee for what has become a one-of-a-kind 'must attend' event in the area. But the night is not just about fun. Most importantly it is about making sure Mercy has the resources necessary to help our friends and neighbors in Horry, Georgetown & Marion counties," said the couple.

Others serving on the Mercy's 2013 Mischief Night Masquerade Ball committee include: Sarah Jeffcoat, Chris Kiliveros, Judy Mattson, Donna Rumph, Beth Stedman and Tom Smigielski.

Corporate sponsorships are available and are very much needed. For more information, please contact Jane Williams, Director of Development for Mercy Care at 843.848.6480.

Mercy Care was founded in 1981 to bring a special program of caring to patients with life-limiting illnesses and their families. Organized by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary and initially funded by both the Sisters and the Catholic Diocese of Charleston, Mercy has since provided the highest quality care to patients and families dealing with advanced illness in Horry, Georgetown and Marion counties.
