Gift of Remembrance
On December 3, 2009, Mercy Care invited families of our former patients, as well as the public, to attend an annual Candlelight Memorial Ceremony at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, to come together and honor the memory of those that they loved and lost.
One particularly meaningful portion of the service touched so many in attendance, that they asked us to publish it here. Each in attendance was asked to take one stone and keep it with them as a constant friend and reminder that God’s Love is matchless in majesty, unparalleled in power and there is no darkness that It cannot dispel.
When it comes to mending the broken heart, perhaps the great sage Lao Tzu put it best when he said, “Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.”
Thus, it has been observed, that God has invested Nature with a cure for every ill. Throughout most of human history, for example, the vast majority of our medicines have come from plants. And who has not been soothed by a warming sun, calmed by a tranquil sea or comforted, after the storm, by the “sweet silver song of the lark”?
The fabric of the Earth is also said to be curative, and since antiquity, many minerals and gems have been hailed as natural healers. Whether they actually possess such powers or simply symbolize the restorative grace of God’s Love is a mystery that each one of us must delve for our self.
But to speed the healing journey you have begun tonight, we give you each a gem of the Earth—that you might find peace in your heart and hope for ever after:

And what are these gems?
May you find peace in your heart and hope for ever after.
