Judy Dovey
Patient Volunteer of the Quarter
Mercy salutes Judy Dovey as the “Patient Volunteer of the Quarter”. For the last quarter of 2007, Judy had 63 hours of service. Judy and her husband, Tom, live in Conway in the Myrtle Trace subdivision. They relocated to Horry County in 1994 from Baltimore, Maryland, where they resided for over thirty years. Judy and Tom have four children and eight grandchildren. In November of 2008, Judy and Tom look forward to celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Judy, a Registered Nurse in Psychiatry, retired from John Hopkins Hospital and Sinai Hospital in Baltimore. After enjoying retirement for a few years, Judy joined Mercy Hospice as a volunteer in May of 1997. For ten years, she was a patient volunteer visiting the homes of patients. Three years ago, Judy decided she wanted to become a nursing home patient volunteer. Today, Judy visits Kingston Nursing Center and Conway Manor patients on a regular basis and finds helping those in need to be very rewarding. Besides volunteering for Mercy Hospice, Judy also finds time to volunteer at her church, Surfside Presbyterian.
Thanks Judy for your dedication and being part of the Mercy team!
